Autonomy and Dependency
Why having strong Self-Authority doesn't contradict needing help and support
There is no contradiction between asking for help and being autonomous. Thinking that self-authority and personal independence means doing everything alone, is a misunderstanding.
I see people on the spiritual path coming to the erroneous conclusion, that at some point they should be able to handle everything on their own, every hardship, every challenge. And based on this wrong conclusion they bring harm upon themselves. That's sad to witness.
Being autonomous means being unified within, having a developed inner core, a stable connection to the ground of silence and direct knowing. But it has nothing to do with the egoic idea of functioning all on your own.
This type of notion stems from a childish reaction of the separate self, wanting to assert its power and show the world how strong and worthy it is. It's still a wish to be somebody. But as always, on the spiritual path, we are brought to the center, beyond opposites.
A highly free, autonomous and self-authoritative person will have no problem asking for help. Firstly because receiving help can never diminish their inner cohesion and autonomy, and secondly because they are mature enough to know that nothing in this world functions in isolation.
My friends,
I've seen people harm themselves as a result of this erroneous perception.
Please, if you find yourselves in this mindset, take a moment to reflect on what is shared in this post.
Deepen your understanding of spiritual wisdom.
Deepen your meditation.
Open your heart to deeper surrender.
Never be ashamed to ask for help.
You are never too good or beyond the need for help.
Receiving help when needed is not a sign of weakness.
Remember: spiritual wisdom is about being real and practical, not about living an image.
When you look at the numbers in numerology, you don’t see only one number, but many. You see a plethora or personalities, abilities, traits, talents and shadows. All represented through the numbers 1 to 9. The reason we have different numbers is so that we also complement each other.
This is a deep lesson.
You aren’t meant to have it all. That would make life very boring, but more importantly, it’s not the way it works. The deeper you investigate the numbers, the more you realize how much each one of us is both complete and meant to complete others. A strong number 1 can help strengthen the will of an indecisive number 2. But the 2 can strengthen the patience and ability to listen of number 1.
Number 5 can assist a number 4 to respond with more flexibility and spontaneity to unpredictable situations, whereas, number 4 can help a number 5 organize their life and manage their energy better.
Each number is both autonomous and part of a “number family” if you will. A family where everyone has a role. In your role, you have full autonomy. But in the greater scheme of things, you also need the support of other numerical elements.
The more you practice numerology, the more this important Dharmic insight can hit home for you. The more you’ll realize: yes, I am complete as I am, AND, I need support, help and even inspiration from others.
Existence is infinite.
None of us can encompass it all in ourselves.
Let’s be humble and open ourselves to our strength and interdependence.
